Fabulous Fall Blog Challenge: Day 7

Fabulous Fall Blog Challenge

Today's Topic: Fall recipes

So I mentioned before the fall food & drinks is something that I look forward too. Because it is! I love it. Of course I always love food, but I particularly enjoy "cold weather" foods. You know what I mean, hot, hearty...you know comfort food...soul food as some would say.

I think it can be said, and could be an understatement that I do not cook. At least usually. I'd like to think that I can, and I know that I have some recipes that Kev loves. And not to toot my own here but I'm the bomb.com at baking (TOOT TOOT - that's my horn honking :P) This fall and winter I'm making it a point to become more of the cook in the household, even though I know Kev's meals will still probably be better. I need to learn how to do things more and really there are a lot of things I'd like to try to eat. I guess I can find through the "joys" of the cooking just to get to the final product!

This fall I'd like to take on some of these things:

I'm a big fan of anything easy, and that looks like it's just that. Plus delicious!! I'm not sure what the deal is with nuts in the fall time but they seem to go together. I'm definitely going to have to try this!

Chili is a BIG staple of mine during the cooler months, and I usually like to dig in during the fall. My mom gave me her recipe, and I think like most everyone would say about their mom's chili...my mom's is the best! You know you say it! I also like any other soups!

These are pumpkin donuts! YUM! I plan on focusing a lot of my baked goods this year to pumpkin. Pumpkin donuts, pumpkin truffles, pumpkin cookies of some kind. You get the point.

Kev's favorite and it's becoming mine. One thing that I absolutely love during the fall. We stock up as much as we can, while we can. This stuff goes quick!

This is a whiskey hot toddy. Never had one, but I'm down for trying it. I want to broaden my hot drinks list, but it seems like most of the new hot drinks are going to contain alcohol. Whatever works I guess :)

Another goal of mine. Use the crock pot. These look awesome and very fallish!

Mexican Bean Dip!

Poppers :)

Of course you can't forget about the tailgating food! This is my kind of spread - remember I told you I'm a snacker - I love making these little foods and for the most part they aren't to bad. I'm hoping to find a great new recipe to start taking places with me. I have yet to find the one thing, but I'm ready to try to make some new things for the frans :D

What do you eat in the fall? Anything special or just the same ole things? Link up & let us know!

Fabulous Fall Blog Challenge: Day 6

Fabulous Fall Blog Challenge
It's a new week, which means it's time to start the new week of the blog challenge.

Today's Topic - Fall TV (new or returning).

I love some of the shows that come on in the fall, and it seems liek there are quite a few new ones that were coming out that I am at least interested in watching once - just to see how it goes. I just thank God for DVR :)

Modern Family

I didn't watch the first season of this, but I wish I had. It's hilarious! Cam & Mitchell are my favorites!
----
Parks & Recreation
'Zerts are what I call desserts. Tray-trays are entrees. I call sandwiches sammies, sandoozles, or Adam Sandlers. Air conditioners are cool blasterz, with a z. I don't know where that came from. I call cakes big ol' cookies. I call noodles long-ass rice. Fried chicken is fri-fri chicky-chick. Chicken parm is chicky chicky parm parm. Chicken cacciatore? Chicky catch. I call eggs pre-birds, or future birds. Root beer is super water. Tortillas are bean blankies. And I call forks...food rakes. - Tom (Aziz)

Probably the best TV show on during the fall. Period.

Broadwalk Empire

I feel as if this show was a bit slow starting off, or all the of the first season. However, the trailers have me intrigued.  I'll give it another try.

----
Glee

Maybe it's strange, but I do enjoy this show. It's entertaining and as corny as it gets it does seem to address some real problems that teens could relate teens.

----
New Girl

I love Zooey Deschanel. Only been one episode so far, but what I've seen, I've liked. Definitely have to see it has potential to be a good one, or at least be funny!

----

Family Guy

This is my go to show. It's hilarious. End of story :)

----
Law & Order: SVU

I like all the Law & Order's. I'd have to say that SVU is my favorite. It's the cast, it really is. Since I've seen all the re-run I guess it's time to actually watch the new ones :)

I'm sure there are some I'm forgetting, or really don't see the point in mentioning because it's kind of a given. So far the fall tv line up & DVR list is looking good! What are you watching this fall? Link up & let us know!

Fabulous Fall Blog Challenge: Day 5

Fabulous Fall Blog Challenge
Day 5 and half way through the challenge :)

Today's Topic:  Things you are looking forward to for fall!

Well I think I can start off by saying that I look forward to the fall itself about half way through summer. It's usually about at the point when summer gets so stinkin' hot you can't venture out.

Other things I look forward to during the fall?

The changing of the leaves. It's probably my favorite things about fall, but only lasts what seems like a week.

The weather. 60's & 70's are prefect :)
Ok ignore the rain, the temperature is perfect :)

Our wedding, DUH! 8 more days to go!

Tailgating/football get together's. Always a must a few times during the football season. I suppose I like it more because I get to hang with friends & eat a lot than the football itself!

The grill master :)
Even Gunner gets in on the action

Bonfires! I think that's enough said. (can't forget to add s'mores - that's just a given when you say bonfire in my world)

Boots, Scaves, and Cardigans...OH MY! I"m obsessed anyways but the cooling of the temperature just gives me an excuse to buy them!

Pumpkin Show!  Enough said :)
1st & 2nd place for the biggest pumpkin last year!
To go right along with that fall foods/drinks! I love heavier foods, even though I get heavier. Comfort foods are my favorite, hands down! I also love hot drinks like teas, apple cider, coffee, hot chocolate. Can't really eat or drink those things comfortably until fall hits and weather is a little cooler.
I love foods like chili & potato soup during the fall!

Hot Apple Cider - YUM!

I have alot more things that makes me look forward to and during fall :) To bad this post can't go on forever. Today is the first official day of autumn! I think this was a good post to start it all off!

It's Ok Thursday

Its Ok Thursdays

Yep, I decided to do another one today. Just call me ambitious :) Here we go!

It's OK that I'm doing another blog. Link ups are just so fun to do!
 ----
It's OK that all I'm thinking about this week is that next week I only have to work two days!

 ----
It's OK to get slight anxiety after thinking about only having to work two next week because our wedding is next Saturday!

 ----
It's OK that even though our honeymoon is going to be awesome I think about how I'm going to miss Gunner! 2 weeks is a long time without my pup!

 ----
It's OK that I spent a litttttle to much at Bath & Body Works the other day. Part of it was for a present and the other was for some fun decor around the house. Justifiable right....right?!

Got a couple of these.
A couple of these: one for the kitchen & one for the half bath which most people use. Aren't they cute!
Told ya I wanted to get more pumpkin stuff! I love the sleeves for the candles.
Of course I had to get a couple candles to go with the sleeves!
----
It's OK that yesterday I completely over indulged at Marcella's last night for the bestest birthday. It was her birthday after all...and it is Marcella's.
----
It's OK to wait to do somethings just so you know you have something to do to fill your time later.
----
It's OK to ask Kevin to give me a back rub every night. What I'm stressed?! And thank you Kev :)
----
It's OK that I can't stop smiling thinking about the fact that is 9 days I'll be Mrs. O! I CAN'T WAIT!

What are you OK with this week?

Fabulous Fall Blog Challenge: Day 4

Fabulous Fall Blog Challenge
Day number 4 of the blog challenge and we are moving right along.

Today's topic: Fall Decorating

So I will say that I do not have a lot of generic fall decoration as of yet. This year I plan to change that, and really it will be baby steps since I can't afford everything I would want to do. I do know one thing I am definitely starting to do this year and that is the tradition of pumpkins everywhere at fall time for as started by Kev's family. If you recall from two posts ago the Pumpkin Show is held in Round Town and city pride is something very much that his Grandma is into. I like carrying on traditions when possible and makes sense for Kevin and I to continue. Pumpkins seem easy enough & I do like them!

The one thing I do like about fall and fall decoration is that you almost get to do it twice since there is Halloween & Thanksgiving. Of course you keep some stuff up the whole time, but anything Halloween specific should come down and as giving thanks goes up.

This year I have gained some inspiration from that lovely addiction known as Pinterest. There is so much stuff on there for fall decorating :)

Love this little bat! Love to get a couple to display for Halloween!

I think this looks great and would be quite easy to do. We have a couch table behind our couch that would be a perfect display area for something like this. I've also found one that is the same thing only says Fall...why not do both?

Looks super easy. I adore the white pumpkin the splash of glitz & color. I have a feeling that I'll be decorating pumpkins instead of carving any.

Wouldn't mind doing a little display of something on the porch this year. I think this is great and I know that I can find those candle holders at Home Goods for cheap!

We have a mantel in our home that I would love to start to do more with when it comes to decorating. The problem with a mantel..you can decorate it so many different ways! I love all of these:

I love these two for Halloween. Pretty different, but they both seem fairly simple as long as I can find all the fixing :)

My fall favorite! I love the candles in the fire place and the color scheme. It'd actually work well in my house. However, it's not my only option!

Sticking with the pumpkin theme I love these. One is a bit more done up, but I suppose it's just going to depend on what mood I'm in when shopping for these items :)

This post has me excited for decorating! However, I think my biggest question when it comes to seasonal decorating. When is the appropriate time to start displaying said seasonal items. I do NOT believe in putting anything out for Christmas until AFTER Thanksgiving. Hello people Thanksgiving still exists to us. I personally love Thanksgiving so I dont' know why stores get into such a rush to forget about it! So when should I put Halloween stuff...probably should be done already huh?! Whoops. I smell a Sunday Funday activity!
