Halloweekend

This is going to be short and sweet :)

This weekend was a great one!

Friday was spent celebrating Jason's birthday!
There was food.
There were board games, cards, and the Kinect.
There was amazing company.
I really don't think it could have been much better!
I also believe it's important to note that this Friday I didn't get to bed until 3AM!!!!!!
This my friends in a Megan Miracle.
I never stay up that late, especially on Fridays, and there was no real reason for me to be awake other than hanging out with friends, and even then I usually fall asleep on the couch until Kev tells me it's time to go :)
Of course I don't have any pictures of this night, but it was fun!

Saturday was High-Ball here in Columbus.
All High-Ball is, is a big ole costume party in the middle of...wait for it...High Street.
Get the name now?
They close a big portion of the street and they have things like costume contests, karaoke, etc.
If nothing else it's always interesting.
Anyway...
We aimed to get down to that on time but by the time we walked the few blocks in the cold we opted to just go to one of our regular bars!

What did we go as you ask?
What better costume for this girl than a Queen costume! Lol.
I really didn't intend on being a queen, I just happened to find the costume at TJMaxx and like most things I had procrastinated on a costume idea and didn't have much time to do anything else :)
I think it's pretty perfect myself!

Danielle was a flapper girl.
It was the cutest costume, and easy to add things yourself (like those pearls she has one!).
And she got herself one of those long cigarette holders to round out the look.
To be clear Danielle doesn't smoke at all, this was for accessorizing and to be used as a weapon later in the evening.

Jason was by far the most creative.
He was the guy (Aaron Ralston) from 127 Hours
Isn't that great?!?
Everything came together so nicely...he even used one of the cow bones that Hannah chews on as the bone for his "arm"! It looked real folks!
People loved it.

Sunday was spent working and cleaning up the house.
Boringggggg....but perfect for a cold, rainy day!

How was all of your weekends?
Do anything fun for Halloween?

Happy Monday!

Night of the Living Dead and a box of Franzia

This past weekend was full of a fun activities. One of them being Highball here in Cbus! Pretty much a big Halloween costume party in the middle of a street, High Street, to be exact. We've been a couple times, and when I say "we've been" I mean we went for like 5 minutes 2 years ago and bounced because it was freezing. This year...we didn't even make it there because it was said coldness! Instead we headed to Mac's which was warm, had food & beer, and just as many costumes to look at.

Can I please say that I do not remember it ever being this cold around Halloween time when I was a kid...okay maybe once or twice because that indeed would not be like Ohio to have the same weather every year at the same time. However, I do remember going around in just a costume, no coat covering it, no gloves...maybe a hat. I think I even remember being in a t-shirt on trick or treat! I digress.

It was a Friday night to remember though. We started off at our friend Jason & Danielle's place, hanging out with some frans, eating, and drinking. Everyone got their costume's around and ready there were some good ones!

Remember how I told you I'd have a really good costume this year...well we had a good idea...that did not translate so well into the costume itself lol. We tried to pull off Step Brother. It didn't work, the wigs just weren't close enough and thankfully Danielle & I do not look manly enough! lol. We just looked like girls in wigs with a Catalina Wine mixer shirts on lol. We didn't even get any pictures. We decided to join the husbands and being zombies. We didn't go as extreme, but I think we did a nice job!

Of course some of our other friends were much more creative!
We got your bee,she dressed like that so she could say "I'mma Bee, I'mma Bee" like the B.E.P's and then of course Steve Jobs!
The ladies! All kinds of costumes - pizza, Frida, a flapper, Pearl Harbor - idk if that's what she is but that's what I called her!) lol.

-----

One of my favorites was Andy's costume, the Franzia box of wine. He actually had wine duct taped in there that you could drink. At one point said bag of wine got ripped off the inside and spilled everywhere in the middle of a side walk, it was close to the whole bag as the only people that drank it were his girlfriend and a couple drunk guys (awkward) walking to the bar!
Simply Amazing...and hilarious!
We finally headed out and made our way to the bar, Mac's, as I mentioned before. The night was full of laughter and fun. Despite the costume fail I had a great time! I'm reminded every year at Halloween how amazingly creative my friends can be! I love that about all of them :)
Frida - check out the brow!
The fellas :)
She was hungry...
Officer Rick Grimes from the Walking Dead (amazing show btw!). Not so good for us Zombies running around!
See I told ya!
The gang :)
What did you do and dress up as? I hope you all had a great and safe Halloween weekend!

Halloween Spirit

So it kind of just dawned on me...like an hour ago that Halloween is next Monday. This week is when pretty much all the celebrating will be going down though so I suppose we can just say this weekend.

Anyways, I realized that Kevin and I did absolutely nothing to prepare for the holiday this year. I don't have a costume yet (working on it), we didn't carve pumpkins, we didn't put up decorations, we didn't even watch any scary movies. Not even Hocus Pocus! I always watch that at least once during the Halloween season. Oh please don't act like you don't love that movie! Old school JSP...psh dont' deny it! Since I am not able to fully enjoy the Halloween spirit in the home place, I'm going to enjoy it via blog. I will say that I do plan on watching a few scary flicks over the next week. I suppose you can watch scary movies after Halloween. Here are some of my favorite things Halloween style :)

Scream (part 1).
I don't find alot of movies that scary anymore. They are either eerie, gory, or just dumb. However, at the time this came out it scared the crap out of me! I haven't watched this in a while so I think I might want to this year :)

The Nightmare before Christmas
If you've read the blog so far you know that I'm a Tim Burton fan. I pretty big one and of course one of my all time favorites is The Nightmare before Christmas. I love it, and really I can watch it at either holiday & not feel bad about it :)  I pinterest this & found all kinds of cute decor for Halloween that I think I might try next year. Do I smell a theme? I also found some cute outfits by Disney that mimic the characters, like Oogie Boogie!

How cute  is this!
----
Poltergeist
One of the hubby's request. I haven't watched this movie many times. I know, I know it's a classic. I'm not sure why I never really watched it, just haven't. I will be soon though!
----
I really like bats for some reason around Halloween time. I mean I'm not trying to go out and catch one or anything. I think they are fun to use for the holiday and it's a little different than the jack-o-laterns and cats.

I am in love with this wreath! I'm making it next year...already decided!

This is neat and I think we could actually do this in our house with the open layout we have.

How cute is this! I don't think they'd actually use it, but I need one anyways :)

Of course I need some bat swag for myself, not just the house.
----
No carved pumpkins. I usually do something plain & easy. You know the triangle eyes & the jagged mouth. However, when we were still in college Kev's frat had pumpkin carving & we always went to that & I'd try something more tricky. Usually failed :( Check out these awesome jack-o-lanterns though!

For my lack of decorating I'm going to throw in a few likes/wants :)

Love this & I could use a good display for the counter & passing out candy to the trick or treaters in the neighborhood!

Cute clock! Easy & functional...I like it :)

Next year I will definitely be more prepared for Halloween! Until then let the delayed scary movie watching begin :)

Fabulous Fall Blog Challenge: Day 3

Fabulous Fall Blog Challenge
This one is all about Halloween folks! One of my favorite holidays :) Today's topic specifically - What do you do for Halloween/A Halloween memory or 2.

I have several great memories of Halloween parties come and gone. Mainly due to the parties on campus....wait wait wait I mean...at friendly gatherings, not parties, not on Otterbein's DRY campus. Just kidding O.C. we neeeever would have had parties on campus :)

Anyways, really Halloween has becoming something more I've gotten into since college. Back in the home town of vdub we didn't really dress up unless you were like 5, which is acceptable.

The first year I dressed up, my sophomore year, I remember going to one of those like Halloween Towns that pop up all over Columbus when Halloween is around the corner. I think I tried on a million different costumes. You know the really cheap ones that a lot people end up wearing. I wasn't completely satisfied with what I ended up with but it was the only costumes that I could find that didn't leave my hiney sticking out the bottom. Seriously how do girls where those short little costume dresses. I can't even stand let alone sit or bend over without my butt hanging out.

Anyways, I was a "sexy" gangster. I guess I figure it's Halloween I can dress semi-slutty. Isn't that just the general rule of thumb for Halloween? That year we went to our friends house for their annual Birthday/Halloween costumer party, and then to top that off Kev's frats rush party was around the holiday and I got to dress up again. Same costume but at least I got more of money's worth out of it!
The group at the bday/Halloween party! Look how young we all look!
During the college days we didn't really stay consist in what we did each year. I got lazy for junior year since it was just going to be a party over at Kev's frat house. I pretty much opened my drawers and figured out what I had. After that ganster outfit I decided I was not going to spend money of a costume I didn't particularly like or even fit me well. So I went with the volleyball player. I had everything I needed. I know kind of lame on my part, but you won't be disappointed with the next two Halloween's.

Junior year was a bit more fun. Kev's frat yet again was having a Halloween costume party so we just stuck around campus. I went more out on this one mainly because for over a year I wanted to this costume idea.

Pop-Eye & Olive Oyl. I have actually been called Olive Oyl for awhile...since Jr. High to be exact! I can't really say I get offended because it's kind of true, I do sort of look like her. And who better for Kev to be! He even has a slight Pop-Eye look to him. Maybe it's just the muskcles (as Pop-Eye would say!)
One of my favorite pics from that evening. Yes, I'm touching the fake chest hair. Ew lol.
I'd have to say this night was one of my great Halloween memories. I had such a great time with everyone and fun with the costume. Both components for an unforgettable Halloween.

The year after senior year costume, definitely another one of my favs, and definitely one of the easiest. Kevin came up with this one and we decided we had to go all out. Luckily for him, and myself really I'm not someone who takes myself to seriously and likes to have fun. Even if I kind of look like a big idiot. So dressed up like Wayne & Garth from Wayne's World. SCHWING!! We ended up going down to High Ball, which is just a big party in the middle of a closed down street. It was a good time, and we got a lot of shout outs on the streets :) Always a good thing if you ask me, at least when it comes to Halloween costumes.
Party on Wayne!
Foxy!
The group. We have Danny & Sandy, Bert & Ernie, Alan & baby Carlos, and then a dead captain.

Fabulous Fall Blog Challenge: Day 2

Fabulous Fall Blog Challenge
So it's day number 2.
Today's topic: Fall Fashion/Trends/Makeup.

Easy peasey lemony squeezy. I could talk about clothing alllllll dayyyyyy loonnnnggg lol. Ok probably not but I would give it a legit try. I love fall clothing. A little strange because I really hate being cold but I love cold weather clothing. Guess that's is what keeps me from being chilly. However, if you know me you know I'm ALWAYS cold.

Top on the list for fall are light, long sleeve t's. I think they are so nice to wear in the fall. It keeps covered, but you still get to feel that crisp cool breezy since more long sleeve t's anymore are sheer.

I love being able to layer with long sleeve t-shirts, tanks, and sweaters depending on how cold it is. This outfit is one of my favorites! Scarves. Love. Scarves. I wish I had more of them then what I do. I also wish I knew how to wear them a little better. I'm not necessarily talking about how to wear it on your body I know how to ties knots, loops & all the fun stuff. I'm talking about being daring enough to wear a scarf with a pattern or color you might not think to wear it with.
Source: polyvore.com via Megan on Pinterest
A light long sleeve t that I love, but you notice how they mix the pattern or strips & flowers on the scarf. I want to be able just to know that that works. Love this scarf btw!
I'll take one of each please :)

You can't forget about sports gear. I'm talking things like hoodies and sports team t-shirts. It's the time of year for football season, we all know this by now. You have to support your team.
Or maybe you can be like me and wear something like this because most games, I don't care :)

I have become a wearer of dresses even as the wear gets cooler. I have several winter dresses, but not to many fall ones. It's great for work to be able to just throw on something quick, get a pair of tights, and boots & call it a day.
I love this dress. I think it would be perfect for fall. It's a little heavier, you can kind of tell by the material, but not to heavy. Boots would look amazing paired with this dress.

So I am not someone who is into makeup so much, but I am into nails. I don't paint mine to often because I usually have fakes ones on. However, I've decided to be more bold with my nails. Might as well right!
I love these. I think they are fun, bold, and a good color for the fall season.
I want a matte nail polish color for the fall. I love this, it's so neat looking & new, at least to me it is!

I think you can all figure out that I wear boots during the fall season so I'm just going to give them a shout out.

Finally Halloween costume! Hey, it's clothing right?! I forgot to put that on yesterday's post but it's something I like to participate in, and like to have fun with it if I can!

We get called Pop-Eye & Olive Oyl all the time. What better costume for us then!
Party on Wayne. Party on Garth. This was one of my favorites!
