Weekend Update! Beerfest & A Baby Shower

This weekend flew by my friends.

It was 60 degrees, and despite the fact that it was raining it just made everything seem a little bit better like warm weather tends to do.

It was also fun filled!

Friday was a relaxing one for Kev and I.
We stayed home and watched some movies.
We've been on a movie spurt!
We watched Lawless
Have you guys seen it?
It's pretty good and I am pretty sure my crush Tom Hardy has like tripled!
Shia LaBeouf isssn't to bad either ;P

Saturday we went to Beerfest
I've told you guys about this activity that is held in Columbus before about a year or so ago, here
Well since then the event has grown and now they host a summer beerfest and it's held on Friday and Saturday on the scheduled weekend instead of just Saturday
Apparently Columbus likes their beer...and if you've read this article on "the most hungover cities in the US" you'd all of Ohio does too!

This year there seem to be even more vendors with more beer options.

It never fails, I always get one of these on my camera.

Sunday was a friends baby shower!
Lindsey threw it and I'm telling you it was right off a pinterest board.
I didn't get the best pictures of it all but she made the food items to correspond with baby books that we could give Danielle, the mama-to-be.
For example, there was "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" next to a crockpot of meatballs and pink lemonade for "Pinkalicious", etc.
She did a really great job.

Emma (the baby's name) got a lot of goodies :)

Danielle even got a little practice while at her own shower.

It was a really fun weekend overall.
What did you guys do? Anything fun?
Tell me about it!

 Happy Monday!

I.heart.Harry

Source: tumblr.com via Megan on Pinterest

I don't think it's any secret that I'm a pretty big Harry Potter fan.
So when I found this over on Sinead's blog, I just knew I had to take it!
I've loved Harry since the day I picked up the first book.
It's probably my one expection to having a favorite anything :)

1. If you went to Hogwarts which house would you be sorted in?
According to Pottermore I’m a Gryffindor!

I'm honestly a little surprised by that since I thought I could even end up in Slytherin.

2. Have you ever been to the HP midnight release?
Ya know, I don't think I ever did.

I have definitely gone opening weekend though.

3. What did you think of the Deathly Hallows?
I loved it.

They followed the book so well.
All the characters were there.
All the major scenes and even a lot of the details were still included.

4. How many times have you reread the books?
I've only read the books once or twice.
I have a good memory so I don't usually re-read things.

5. Whose death was the saddest?
Hmmm...I think I'm going to have to go with two different ones on this one.
In the book, Dumbledore. I cried like a baby.
In the movie, Dobby. I cried even more like a baby!

6. If you went to Hogwarts would you rather have an owl, a cat, or a rat?
I would say an owl just because it's so different!
Plus I love Hedwig :)

7. What do you think of the movie Half-Blood Prince?
I thought they did a really good job on that as well.

There were moments of high, suspenseful drama, but then there were moments of laughter.
Perfect mix if you ask me.

8. What do you think of the Deathly Hallows being split in two?
Well as I said above I thought it was a good idea.

They would have never been able to fit as much into one movie, resulting in not following the book as much.
That would have ruined it.

9. Have you read the Tales of Beedle the Bard?
I have! It's cute!
I want to get the other of J.K. Rowlings one off books!

10. When did you first become a Potter fan?
Oh jeez, when the first book came out...

so....
I was 10 :)

Favourite…

Female character?
Oh this is tricky!
I'd say Hermione and/or Luna.

Male character?
I'm going to exclude Harry from the count so I'd say...

Sirius and Ron
...and sometimes I hate to say it but I do love Snape.

Professor?
Professor Mcgonagall.
Hands down. Loved her from the beginning.

Death Eater?
I'd have to say Bellatrix.

She's crazy but she's powerful.
Frankly she's a bad ass.

Magical creature?
House-elves - because of Dobby

Griffin - because I loved Buckbeak.
Phoenix - because Fawkes is cool and who wouldn't?!
lol.

Spell?
Cliche but Expecto Patronum
...I love the the animals.

Book?
Ha. Can I say all of them?

Probably the 7th is my favorite...
followed by 4-6 lol.

Movie?
Again....can I say all?!
I liked the Order of the Phoenix and both of the Deathly Hallows.

Hogwarts House?
I'm going to go with Gryffindor.
Call me bias but I like all their personality traits better overall.

Place?
The Burrrow - because its so homey

and
Diagon Alley - because it's like the shopping center of the wizard world.
Bet it's awesome!

Weasley?
Ron and Molly

Couple?
I love when Ron and
Hermione finally get together!

This or that…

Gryffindor or Slytherin?
Gryffindor.

Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff?
Hufflepuff (because I like it to say it!)

Fred or George?
Fred...
even though there really isn't that much difference.

Ginny or Luna?
Luna

I like Ginny, just like Luna overall better.

Butterbeer or Firewhiskey?
Butterbeer!

Diagon Alley or Hogsmeade?
Diagon Alley

Books or Movies?
Books,

but I do looveee the movies :)

Half Blood Prince or Deathly Hallows?
Deathly Hallows.

Sorcerer’s Stone or Chamber of Secrets?
 Chamber of Secrets
Lupin or Sirius?
Sirius

...I do like Lupin as well, but I love Sirius as the role model for Harry.

Harry/Ginny or Harry/Hermione?
Harry/Ginny!

Harry and Hermione have that brother/sister relationship.
That would just be too weird.

Lavender Brown or Parvati Patil?
Parvati, but Lavender is SO annoying.

Seamus Finnigan or Dean Thomas?
Seamus.
Love his accent and I find him quite funny with all the stuff he blows up :)
I will say though I was on Dean's team when Seamus was doubting Harry and Voldy's return.
Shame, shame Seamus.

Kreacher or Dobby?
Dobby

Dan or Rupert?
Hmm this is a hard one.
I have a bit of a soft spot for Dan, but I find Rupert more attractive.

Bellatrix or Narcissa?
Bellatrix.

Voldemort or Tom Riddle?
It's the same person so both, but Tom.
He looks like a real person, Voldy does not!

Hedwig or Crookshanks?
Hedwig fo sho

Movie Review: 50/50

So this movie might be called 50/50 but I guarantee 100% that you'll like this movie.

We all have seen the trailers on what the movie is about, but if not here is just a brief synopsis.
This is actually based on a true story and is described as a comedy, but Joseph Gordon - Levitt's character is diagnosed with cancer at age 27 and it's about his struggle dealing with the disease.

This is one of those movies that I mentally had to prepare for before watching, and I'm glad I did. The movie definitely made me cry, as to be expected with any movie dealing with cancer.  We all know someone who has dealt with cancer. It's a subject we can all relate too, but being 25 years old watching a movie about a 27 year old health freak get diagnosed hit home. Hey you 20 year old's out there it can happen to us too, just a reminder to get all your yearly tests! That all being said make sure you have a couple tissues handy, but it's probably not the worst crying you'll ever do watching a movie.

I absolutely love Joseph Gordon-Levitt. I'd say he's on my top 5 list of actors. He is stickin' cute but he's a pretty good actor. He nailed it in this movie. He is the prefect person to play this 27 year old average guy. He pulls off all the emotions you would imagine that a person would go through after finding out they have cancer.

Despite all of the sadness there are some pretty funny parts! Mainly thanks to this guy.
We all know Seth Rogen is funny, but on top of his funny moments I also think he nailed his part. He's Joseph's GL's best friend in the movie. He's a huge part of the support system for Joseph's character, and is actually the only male that is part of the system.

On top of the cancer issue Joseph's character deals with a little bit of a romance and his family!  Oh yeah, there are all kinds of little pieces and parts. Although these topics are not the main subject matter they play a bigger part in his overall life and these characters do end up being his support system...or lack there of for one of them. Who is it? I'll never tell! You gotta watch :) I think they cast a great group of people to play these roles.

Anjelica Huston as his mom.
All I can say is that every time I see her I automatically think of  the movie The Witches. None the less she did the excellent job as the worrying mother.

You all recognize Hilly from The Help right? I did not realize all the movies Bryce has been in until IMDB'ed her for this review. Despite all the big movies she's been in I feel as if though she's been given little attention or credit. Although I like Hilly better, I thought she played her part in this movie well. There could have been a bit more emotion considering the role she plays, but over all she does a nice job!

Anna Kendrick as Katherine
After this movie I really enjoy Anna has an actress. I wouldn't say she is the best out there, but she played this role extremely well. I've seen her in other movies like Twilight (she's Bella's friend Jessica), and Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. I was glad to see her have a big part. Although you can see what is coming from a mile away with her part, it's a pivotal one, and by the end you will love her!

I would give this movie a big ole high five. It's an emotional roller coaster ride of a movie, there is laughing, crying and everything in between! What more can you ask for? I think this could be one of my new favorites!

Give it a try and let me know what you think!

Expecto Patronum

I'm going to be a complete nerd on this one and talk about Harry Potter. If you read my blog regularly you know I'm a fan, and I have been for what is it now..oh yeah 14 years! First off I can't believe it's been that long since the first Harry Potter book entered my life. I'll be the first to admit that I have read all the books, some of the more than once, and I really do enjoy them more than the movies. I just appreciate and the details of a book that can get cut out for the big screen. I'll have to thank my mom for my love of H.P. & crew. She read the first book when I was 10 and thought I'd really enjoy it! She had no idea what she was starting! From that point on I read all the books that were available and had mom preorder all the rest as they came along. I think I finished all of them within a week of getting them. Ok, ok maybe not the last one but I would say for a 784 page book I made that book my b*tch :) I think I may need/want to re-read them all now that it's all over. I might even have to make Kev join in as since the 5 years we've been together he's been slowly catching up. First he was dragged and now this last one he wanted to see! Believe it! I've enjoyed every movie (some of course are better than others, but again the movie is never really as good as the book is it?!

Yesterday was one of those bittersweet moments where something you've been waiting for for what seems like a million years happens, is over. Now what do I get to look forward to each year?...I guess Breaking Dawn will have to do, yes I read those books to & the last one was my favorite!

Anyways, it was brought up yesterday how much all the stars of the movie have grown up. Well of course they have but can anyone else really believe that we have gotten to watch these kids (I say kids..they are like a year younger them me =/) grow up! I'd also like to note that there were kids in the theater yesterday who were not even born when the first movie, let along book, came out! Eek...way to make me feel old =/ As a side note I'm highly impressed that some of these kids knew what H.P. was since I've gotten comments like: N*Sync...who is that? WHAT! And Spice Girls are so the 90's...swear on my life. I'm still trying to figure out why that is a bad thing?!

Anywhoo back to the subject at hand. Thinking back to the first book it's amazing to see how much change, physically & mentally the characters have gone through. I've gone from loving to hating a character, I've felt happy & sad for some, and this last one I cried as some people do die (not telling who calm down).  Makes me realize how much I have changed as well and I honestly believe that Harry Potter has affected my life. Maybe not on some crazy life changing level but it's been there, along with the characters, as an influence for a long time.   Even now I plan to watch the progress of these the characters in their real & professional lives. I look forward to getting to watch even more change and hopefully more success for all of them.
Harry Potter & the Sorercer's Stone
Harry Potter & the Chamber of Secrets
Harry Potter & the Prisoner of Azkaban
Harry Potter & the Goblet of Fire
Harry Potter & the Order of the Phoenix
Harry Potter & the Half Blood Prince

Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows Pt 1
Harry, Ron, and Hermione from beginning to end.

Even on the books Harry has changed! I'm not just talking about older, but the illustration seems to be a lot more realistic.
This is yet another part of my childhood/teen days coming to a close. Harry & his group of friends have captured the hearts of many people. When I see the way they've changed over the years it makes me realize how much even I have invested in these characters, books, movies.  They have been part of my life for over 10 years and now it's time to say good-bye.

Are you talking to me? I sure hope so!

Last night the season 4 premiere of True Blood. As I was watching with intrigue as so many Sunday's nights have been spent on my couch I started thinking about how much I liked Bill's accent. I love hearing him speak! So of course I went a little further and started thinking of all the actors out there with hot accents..mmmmmm. Woo hoo - back to reality Megan! I think the amazing part about is a lot of the time you don't really know that an actor as an accent until you watch an interview! A lot of actors have to change their accent to (American) English. I always wonder if that's difficult or if it's as easy as some of us changing our voice to be British accent. Anyways, I thought what better way to start off a work week...eye candy with sexy voices. Happy Monday :)

Charlie was born in Newcastle, England. You may recognize him from the TV series Sons of Anarchy. Don't all girls have a little thing for bad boys?!
The man who started it all. Stephen was born in Brentwood, Essex, England. If you have yet to hear him utter the word, "Sookie"..it's a must!
Another True Blood star, they have this show stacked! And no not with Stackhouses! Ryan is from Australia.
James was born and raised in Scotland. He's in the new X-Men movie as Professor X. He may need to use that mind control to ward off the ladies with that voice!
Also, a Scotland native. I think I'd really like Scotland :)
Old or new this country was made for men like Javier :) Javier is originally from Spain.
Do I even need to say anything? Well maybe...Thank you Australia!
Do you think Batman could see the Batman signal in Britain all the way from my house? It's worth a shot!
