Secret Santa Swap & Holiday Nails

What better way to end the week with a Secret Santa Swap & freshly manicured nails?

I signed up to be part of a Secret Santa hop hosted by Shannon, Syndal, and Kaity.
I had never done a blog secret santa swap so I thought it'd be something fun to try and I am so glad I did.
One of the lovely hosts, Syndal was paired to me!
Syndal's blog, Synfully Delicious, is adorable, and she is so creative.
If you have the chance please go check out her space :)
You won't regret it.

Anyways, the other day I came home to find a package on my porch.
The package being there itself wasn't weird, it was that I had no idea who it was from, and then it dawned on me!
Secret Santa blog swap time!!
I am not sure I've opened up a present that quickly with excitement in a long time!
I opened the package to find this amazing card!
I love the color of the glitter!
I can't stop looking at it.
It may or may not have to sit out on the counter longer than the Christmas season.

 Sweet note from Syndal ♥

All of my goodies :)
Does she know me or what?

I got a really pretty blue bangle, and some stationary stuff.
Perfect for the girl who can't remember to get some things accomplished without writing them down.

We have some Christmas cookie cutters, which I don't have and every baker should!
Fail on my part as a baker, and super applause for Syndal :)
A new Christmas ornament, and my guess is that Syndal made it!
A tea light candle holder.
It's hard to see in the picture but there is a Christmas tree on it too.
Finally a little baby Santa spatula, it's too cute!

Christmas napkins :)
How cute are those, and they go perfectly with my yellow kitchen!

Finally a new scarf.
I do not have one this color or pattern, and blue is my favorite!

Everything I received from Syndal is perfect for me!
Thank you so much Syndal for the great stuff!
I appreciate the time, effort, and dollars you put into this and I can't wait to get to know you and your blog more!

Nexxtttt...

Since I got my nails done yesterday I had to show off the new holiday look.
So I'm linking up with Tara for some Nail Files fun :)

I couldn't wait to get this red glitter on my nails when I bought it, and I think it's absolutely perfect for the holidays.

However, what I didn't realize is that I would absolutely LOVE "Head Mistress" by itself, and get a little sad when the "Leading Lady" glitter had a tint to the polish and dulled down the red underneath. I thought "Leading Lady" would be a little more sheer.
I am not disappointed, but you will be seeing "Head Mistress" again, all by herself.

PS - has anyone else noticed I tend to use color that reference being the boss lady?
Coincidence?
Hell no!
Even my subconscious knows who's in charge around here ;P

Happy Friday!
Everyone has a safe and happy Holidays!

Coffee Talkin'

Definitely feels like it should be a Friday, and it's only Thursday.
I think today is going to call for lots of coffee all around.

1. What type of phone do you have?
I have a Droid, Motorola Bionic.
It's about time for me to get a new one though...

 2. Look to your right, what do you see?
Kev's recliner & the wall. Lol.

3. List 5 random facts about yourself...

*I cannot wear the color yellow to save my life.
At least I think so...

**I love murder mystery shows like Law & Order (all of them), The Mentalist, NCIS...
Source: google.co.uk via Megan on Pinterest

However I do not really watch the new seasons of these shows, just the re-runs on USA...
I should be embarrassed shouldn't I?

***I have an unhealthy obsession with Harry Potter.
The thought that it's over still makes me want to cry.

****I love animals, more than most people, most of the time...

*****I've collected every card I've ever been given since I was like in 2nd grade.
I do mean every card too.

4. What is that one talent you wish you were great at?
Oh I always find this question to be tricky because I'd love to be able to do so much more, better! lol.
I have 3 I'll give you, and they are random...very random.

*I wish I could draw.
The only thing you will currently get out of me are stick figures & doodles...and not good ones at that.

**Be able to fix a car.
Like legit fix a car, not just change the oil or whatever.

*** The talent of  patience.
Zero patience in this girl...zero...

5. Go to Wikipedia.org and hit random. The first random Wikipedia article you get is the name of your band. Go to quotationspage.com and click random quotes. The last four or five words of the very last quote of the page is the title of your first ...album. Go to weheartit.com and click on “explore”. Seventh picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover. Use picmonkey.com to put it all together. Now show us your album :)
Well my album cover is pretty creepy, but I am digging the band name & album title.

Happy Thursday!

A Pinteresting Me, Myself, and I

Who else is ready for the weekend?
I sure pretty much all of you are feeling the pain of the work week before a few days break, like me.
My brain has been functioning like its a Friday week...
The preholiday work brain lag...
It's no good my friends, no good at all.

I digress.

I am very happy it's hump day and I get to do two link ups today!

1) What was your favorite gift given to you as a child?
I have always been blessed enough to get great gifts every Christmas, but I think my favorite was my little Red Corvette!
I mean check that sucker out?!
I had that thing for years and still have memories of driving it around the yard...
probably running over my sister at some point...ya know normal kid stuff lol.

2) Christmas is almost here, what is that one Christmas song you could listen to on repeat?
I always get shit for this because it's sounds funny but I LOVE Trans-Siberian Orchestra.
I could listen to any of their Christmas music on repeat.

However, I also greatly enjoy Michael Buble's Christmas CD and of course the classic Mariah Carey Christmas CD.

3) What are a few of the items on your Christmas list this year?

I've been loving, really any, Michael Kors watch.
I'm not sure what is it about these watches, I just love 'em!

Nail polish.
Oh, don't act surprised you know I'm obsessed!

If you've been following along for awhile you know I'm not the cook of our home, hopefully that changes with the Knife Skills class I've asked for from Sur La Table
I'm gonna be chopping and dicing like a Iron Chef...
I just pray I'm not chopping any phalanges in the process!

A nice camera bag from Jo Totes
I have a generic camera bag, but I wouldn't mind something trendy, especially if I'm going to continue to haul the thing around on vacas and stuff!

4) Do you and your family have any special holiday traditions? Explain.
I would say the only one we really have is the "hide the pickle" tree ornament tradition.
Nothing to crazy, but it's fun!

If you don't know what this is it's as simple as leaving the pickle ornament out with the milk & cookies for Santa, and when he comes he hide the pickle in the Christmas tree.
Whoever is the first one to find it in the tree in the morning gets to open his or her present first, or really whatever you want to have happen for whoever finds it first.
*just remember to not grab it too quickly since I highly doubt you want to bring down your tree, or have them break the ornament in their hands*

5) Which do you prefer: wrapping paper or gift bags? Why?
Hmmmm this is tricky because I like both for different reasons, but if I have to pick one I will say wrapping paper.

Why, because it tends to be prettier than doing gift bags, and because I'd rather rip open a present.
That's the whole fun right?
However, you'll find me using gift bags WAY more often because I'm terrible at wrapping gifts.
I'm not sure how some people can wrap presents so nicely, but it makes me jealous!

Happy Wednesday!

Friends

This weekend one of my best friends Lindsey and I (and our fellas) took our annual trip to see our other best friend Korie.

I've been great friends with these girls for several years and even with the distant from Kor I find an extreme comfort in their friendship.
The comfort of knowing each other so well, the comfort in expression our feelings to one another - even if we disagree, and a comfort in knowing they'll always be there.
I'm so blessed to have these girls in my life.

Happy Monday

Currently, I am...

I'm swiping this idea for Ms. Katie over at Keep Calm and Carry On.
I've got the Thursday brain where all I can think about it getting through Friday and hitting the weekend!
You ever have that happen?
Well now you know how I am currently feeling!

Here are some other things I am currently doing...

Bragging about:
My super, awesome hubs got a new job/promotion at work yesterday.
Woo hooo way to go babe!!!

Watching:
Homeland
Holy Homeland you guys!!
I am not sure if you've been keeping up or if you even watch this show, but if you don't you need to go pick up season 1 immediately and keep watching.
Trust me, it will not be difficult to do.
If you watch, what you do guys think?
This shiz is getting crazy!

Smelling:
My new favorite Christmas candle: Peppermint Mocha.
It's like I live in a holiday Starbucks cup.

Looking forward to:
Our annual December trip to go see Korie, and get to spend the weekend with 2 of the best friends and the fellas :)

Using:
Aveda's Dry Remedy Moisturizing Shampoo & Conditioner.
It's been a complete God send to my hair.
I used to use volumizers, and found out that's why my hair was so dry and splitting at the ends and producing more oils to compensate.
Since I've started using this my hair has been easier to deal with over all.
It's definitely not as slick as it used to be, and my ends aren't splitting!
*this is my opinion, I was not asked to review this product*

Loving:
Oh, come on...like you didn't see this one coming.

Happy Thursday!
