I'm Totally That Girl

Yesterday, I read A Complete Waste of Makeup and her post really intrigued me, but it was so simple. It's call I'm Totally That Girl...I think the reason this really caught my eye is because I like to think that I embrace myself for who I am. So that being said...this is the kind of girl I am...well for what I can fit in this blog without it being ridiculous.

I'm that girl that really tends to tell you like it is. I'm sure some people find it harsh and maybe even unnecessary, but I feel like lying is a waste of time, I don't get to embarrassed to easily, and I feel like friends should be the ones to tell you the truth no matter what.

Who really doesn't know a whole lot about grammar...yet I love blogging. I guess grammar isn't the point.

Who feels more compassion for animals that I do for most people. Of course I don't mean the people that I love and care about, I'm not that harsh. Studies have shown a lot of people feel this way.

Who believes it's ok to spoil your friends! I love getting people presents :) I think it's a fun way to be creative and they deserve it, don't they?!

Who doesn't own or use foundation or concealer. The only thing I usually wear is a hint of blush and mascara. A lot of people tell me I'm lucky, and Kev tells me all the time how pretty I am without it. I think more women should try this, I don't mean don't care about the way you look. Just try to go au naturale sometimes.

Who would prefer to use quotes then her own words sometimes. I like quotes, no, I love quotes..as if you haven't noticed. I'm not always the best at communicating, especially my feelings. I've found a way to fix that.

Who loves to tell people that Kevin and I are less than 24 hours apart in age. I'm not sure why, probably because I think it's cool. Our personality tend to be pretty similar because of this, but it works, it works so so well :)

Who gets fired up pretty easily. Yet, I never stay really mad at anyone for more than 24 hours.

Who sometimes thinks this world could use a bit more help and guidance from the big guy upstairs. Some of the things I see or read about make me ill. Sometimes it's because someone is clearly a very messed up person, or it's something  like Heaven St. (see the story here) having to be renamed because someone is offended (Are you kidding me! Get over yourself!). It's a bit negative, but it's true.
Really, this is that big of a deal you have to have a temper tantrum. Idiot.
Who must have some lazy days. There are days that I don't get out of my PJ's and do absolutely nothing. It's pretty rare, but it happens, and it's awesome.

Who doesn't really care about sports as much as some other things...girly things. I do like college football and I'll watch it regularly once the seasons starts. The UFC is another that I watch all the time. Other than that unless I'm going to the game or going to go play it myself I probably don't care overall. Come on people let's be really there are a lot of girls (I know not ALL girls) out there that fake liking sports as much as they do for the fellas.

Who cleans up my facebook regularly. I don't really care about the amount of friends I have, I care about things like who I talk to, who I should and shouldn't let see my stuff. I've seen people almost have a heart attack for deleting one friend...for real?
Can you believe this is a real picture :)  Love it!
Who needs to get off here and be productive...now.

google

So I'm going to have to start swapping my What I'm Loving Wednesday and my How Pinteresting posts since they are both for Wednesdays. Guess I'll always know I have some kind of topic :)

I love this. Kevin and I always talk about being better about our grocery shopping habits and we thought that if we could make a weekly menu it would help! I think I'm going to have to try it with this now!

I tend to be a little forgetful. I think this could actually be helpful.

I would love to get to visit this place. It's almost hard to believe it's really a place. I plan to make it to Ireland someday as both Kevin & I have a family line from there. It's just beautiful.

Enough said!

I'm an Arby's Curly Fry addict, maybe this will help save me some moolah! They look delicious, and I even have my own recipe for a cheese sauce I can use too!

This is just adorable & it makes me laugh.

I'm looking to re-do a bathroom, what are the odds of this being the turn out. I can tell you now low, but a girl can dream :)

My parents, sister, and Kevin will love this one...and probably totally agree that this should be hanging in my house somewhere :) It's true I can't help it.

Donate life

This post is probably not something for the squeamish. Today at work the American Red Cross is coming so that associates can donate blood if they'd like too. I'm one of those associates, and I'm nervous! Nervous point #1 - I've only given blood once. I had tried other times but my iron level never was where it needed to be, at one point I had every single finger pricked. All I left with was a lot of band-aids and throbbing phalanges (I love that word!).

I guess mine would say 2nd time donor now.
This really freaking hurts, I hate this part the most!

Nervous point #2 - I'm a weeeee bit prone to fainting. Ok, it's kind of alot prone. I honestly think it happens because I get so jacked up on my own nerves that my body has to almost shut down to chillax for a bit. Anyways, I got quite dizzy the last time and they had to flip me up in those chairs. It's embarrassing - you don't want to be that girl that passes out at work right?! I don't!

I guess at least I'm not fainting at my wedding :)

Nervous point #3 (the not so hard stomached should probably not read this point) - I'm not really scared of needles or blood but I cannot see them inject me or that thing sticking out of my arm...I'll faint. lol. I'm not even going to attempt to find a picture of this!

I'm sure you are all wondering why in the world I'm doing this then. Well, because it's a good thing to do, and I can help save someone's life. It's a pretty rare opportunity to have. Save someone's life. I guess I can check that off the bucket list. I know it's not in some heroic way really, but that isn't what matters. I'm also someone who firmly believes you are only going to get out of life, family, friends, community, etc what you give. Before the last time I gave blood I was torn. I knew I had issues giving in the past with my iron, and I didn't really want my fingers stuck like that again. I knew all my nervous points from the very beginning, and I thought why would I put myself through that. On the other hand I knew it was something that I could do to help out, and it was so simple. I sit in a chair and hope that I stay conscious. No biggy. I think what really swayed my decision though was doing a little research. This is what I found.

Facts about Blood needs:
  • Every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood.  - I know people that need blood regularly
  • More than 38,000 blood donations are needed every day.
  • A total of 30 million blood components are transfused each year in the U.S. (2006).
  • The average red blood cell transfusion is approximately 3 pints.
  • Sickle cell disease affects more than 80,000 people in the U.S., 98 percent of whom are African American. Sickle cell patients can require frequent blood transfusions throughout their lives.
  • More than 1 million new people are diagnosed with cancer each year. Many of them will need blood, sometimes daily, during their chemotherapy treatment. - almost everyone knows someone who has or has been affected by cancer.
  • A single car accident victim can require as many as 100 pints of blood. - in 2005 there were nearly 6,420,000 car accidents in the U.S. alone. That requires alot of blood.
Facts about Blood supply:
  • The number of blood donations collected in the U.S. in a year: 16 million (2006).
  • The number of blood donors in the U.S. in a year: 9.5 million (2006).
  • The number of patients who receive blood in the U.S. in a year: 5 million (2006).
  • Share of the U.S. population eligible to give blood: Less than 38 percent. - doesn't seem like a whole lot.
  • Blood cannot be manufactured – it can only come from generous donors. - guess we won't be seeing True Blood anytime soon.
  • Type O-negative blood (red cells) can be transfused to patients of all blood types. It is always in great demand and often in short supply.
  • Type AB-positive plasma can be transfused to patients of all other blood types. AB plasma is also usually in short supply.
Facts about Blood & it's components
  • There are four types of transfusable products that can be derived from blood: red cells, platelets, plasma and cryoprecipitate. Typically, two or three of these are produced from a pint of donated whole blood – hence each donation can help save up to three lives.
  • Donors can give either whole blood or specific blood components only. The process of donating specific blood components – red cells, plasma or platelets – is called apheresis.
  • One transfusion dose of platelets can be obtained through one apheresis donation of platelets or by combining the platelets derived from five whole blood donations.
  • Most donated red blood cells must be used within 42 days of collection.
  • Donated platelets must be used within five days of collection – new donations are constantly needed.
  • Plasma and cryoprecipitate are stored in frozen state and can be used for up to one year after collection.
  • Healthy bone marrow makes a constant supply of red cells, plasma and platelets. The body will replenish the elements given during a blood donation – some in a matter of hours and others in a matter of weeks.
I felt like all of those things were a good reason to suck it up and give 15 minutes or my time and a pint of blood. Despite my nerves I'm pretty proud of myself for doing this, and trying to help someone.

If you are interested please visit The American Red Cross website. They have information on being a first time donor, how to prepare, and ways to set up an appointment.

How many Megan O's are there...

NONE!!!!!!....for now :)

As I have explained before there are a lot of Megan's running around the family. Megan O (Kevin's biological sister), myself: Megan Rob, and then Megan R (Kevin's step sister). There has always been confusion/joking around about how many Megan O's are there going to be by the end of this year. The answer: just one! As of Saturday Megan O has changed her name to Megan P! So even now there are none...as I told you previously above :)

From Friday's post you all should know that Megan O got married. She and Mark's day could not have gone any better in my opinion. The room was filled with great food, dancing, and so much love!
Mr. & Mrs. Phillips!
Their ceremony and reception were held at The Graystone in downtown. I had never been there before and I really loved it. The space had a lot of character, and I think it fit very nice with Megan's style for the day - classic.
The inside where dinner was held.
Speaking of Megan's style she looked amazing. Of course she is always a pretty girl, but as always on your wedding day, she was just radiant. I adored her dress; it was simple and very elegant. The open back was a beautiful touch - I think that is one of the sexiest "body parts" on a woman. Her grandma added her own little touches for Megan to the dress. It made the dress even more special in that way. I loved her hair with the touch of pearl hairpins, and she wore a veil that belonged to family member. I believe that Megan is an old soul and I think her look on this day solidified my belief :)
Gorgeous :D
Check out the open back & veil.
Mandy is one of Megan's many cousins, but is also easily one of her best friends. You could probably call them sisters if you wanted to. I loved Mandy's maid-of-honor speech. She and Megan have grown up together, which explains the extremely closeness they share. It was a very genuine and sentimental speech as Mandy spoke about Megan & Mark. I think it helps a lot when the maid-of-honor or best man know the couple as a whole and individuals so they can speak to each...Mandy nailed it.

Goofballs.
Let the dancing begin. The night flew by as everyone enjoyed themselves with mingling, drinking, and dancing. Megan and Mark had a blast and that is really all anyone can ask for.

Father/Daughter Dance.
Shaking it :)
Mark's favorite song & dance - The Humpty Dance.
Everyone on the dance floor. Check out Ann & Mandy in the middle there lol.

These two deserve everything in this world. They are hard-working, caring, hilarious people! I couldn't be any happier for my new family, Megan & Mark. I am excited to watch their married life journey unfold and what other shenanigans these two can get into. I wish them nothing but the greatest love and happiness in the world.
Love ♥

Happy Friday

My soon to be sister-in-law is getting married tomorrow! I can't believe the day has arrived already! Kev and I couldn't be more excited for them and wish them nothing but the greatest love & happiness in the world.

This quote could not be more fitting for the two of them :) Love you both!
Have a great weekend :)

I am now a Pinterest addict

google

Yeah yeah I'm a day late...sue me..I'm going to do this anyways! I'm totally going to blame Holly over at Running in Stilettos for this new addiction! Between this and Etsy I never leave the internet. So I've linked up and decided to play along. This Pinterest post is purely wedding :) There are things that I would actually love to use/wear and other things are just things I like. Sometimes I wish you could get married to the same person more than one time so you could do all the fun themes that are out there!

I think this dress would make an awesome rehearsal dress. I love the style & the color! Red the color of L.O.V.E - how appropriate!

I have officially found what I would like to do  with my hair for the wedding. However, I'm a bit nervous that this won't happen. I love my hair, I really do, but it is so slick that literally the only person(s) who can get it to stay styled in any way shape or form is a hair stylist. Now notice I said slick, not thin. I have stick straight hair, always have, always will. What do you think? Doable? Can't hurt to try right!

I'm still working on my bridesmaids gifts. I have a couple things already under my belt but I thought these things were really cute ideas. I like the idea of customizing the gift to be more fitting for the bridesmaid as they aren't all the same. It's hard to really show your appreciate for everything they do through presents. My girls have been awesome and I can't say thank you enough to all of them for being the amazing women that they are!

Think: this gold nail polish with a ivory tip for a spunky french manicure. I am going to admit that I have had fake nails for about...6 years straight now. I'd had them before that off & on though. I literally don't remember the last time that I saw my real nails (because they suck!). That being said I my nails are something that I can have some fun with without it being completely over the top! Just a fun little detail! Fun or to much?
So I already have my shoes...and these are not them. However, mine are gold like my girls will be, and these are entirely to fun to not show off. I like them because they are fun, different, classy, and can definitely be worn again.

I absolutely love these pictures and think they are great ideas. You don't see them to often either...there are just some poses that are a little overused. Kevin and I do not plan on seeing each other before hand so I really like that idea of that top picture! I love the bottom one for several reasons actually. I think that Kev and I are very pretty close to our entire bridal party. It's important to him and me that we get great pictures with all of them and both side separately! This is such a fun way to go about it that. I really hope we can pull something like this off :) Being the photography lover that I am and knowing our photographers I know we will get some fun things no matter what!

This is so clever. I would have never thought to have done something like this for my "something blue". I may need to talk to my dress alterations person to see what they can do!

So Kevin and I are not going to have a guest book, but we are going to have a wish jar. I'm not sure I could wait to read what people had to say even a few days let alone 5 years, but I do like the thought of having your guests give you not only wishes, but hopes and advice!

I really like this entire spread. The flowers, the table number, the gold object in there...you catch my drift. We do have our flowers and recently had our "mid-term" to get to see them. I loved them and Kev did for as much as he could like a flower arrangement :) However, we don't have table numbers yet. I'm looking for something with a little bit more flair than just the plain janes. These seem prefect. I love that it's not to crazy but has the nice shine to it that makes it pop from the table. We will see what I can come up with...this may be a DIY project for yours truly.

Does anyone have any idea if this is true? When I read it the sentimental person came out in me. I'm not sure why, maybe it's because I enjoy history and learning the origins of long running traditions. I also like the thought that the symbol of endless love is also connected to your heart not only in mind but in a subtle physical way as well. I think Google-ing this as soon as I'm done here.

Of course it's not just all about the wedding, but the after and all the goodies you get :) I don't think I'll get any of these things but I love them! I will definitely be getting the first picture to hang out up in the living room. I've loved all my roommates but none as much as Kevin. The Mr. & Mrs. pillows are just cute and I think it would be a fun little touch to the bedroom decor. I'm sure as most people Kev and I have our certain sides of the bed so they would work out perfectly :) I love the idea of the last picture it's a picture of where you met, where you got married, and where you honeymoon. I think we'd have to change it up a little bit since we met in Westerville and are getting married in Columbus. I just think they are to close so what if we did the places we are from, where we met & got married, and then were we honeymoon? Does that work or no? I kind of like it because it's a bit of our history blended with the future. Who doesn't love that!

W.I.L.W

This week I'm loving...

I'm loving...that this wedding planning business is almost over. 1) I'm excited to marry Kevin - my love, my life, my best friend, my everything :) 2) I've been going at this madness for over a year and a half now...it's time. 3) I will get to see everyone I care about, and it's been awhile for some of those people! 4) I'm not sure if I can make any more decisions. I know this sounds a bit negative and I am having fun planning but again I'm ready.
I feel like I've probably made every single one of these faces along the wedding planning way.
I'm loving...rompers! Currently I own two and I plan on getting more! They are easy, comfortable, and stylish. Honestly the only downfall could be the going to the bathroom part. Depending on your state of mind a bathroom break could be a doozy lol.
One of the two rompers I own. It was so nice in Punta Cana...good breathable fabric :)
I'm loving...Family Video. We decided to get a membership since Netflix is jacking up their prices like crazy and we don't even use it that much! It's cheap...cheaper than both Netflix & Blockbuster. In some cases it's even cheaper than RedBox since we just got two movies for 5 nights for about $3.00! Movie nights here I come :)

I've loving...snacks. Hello my name in Megan and I'm a snacker! I love those days you have where you kind of just have snack foods set out for the day and people pick at it as they come and go or as the night goes on. You don't really even ever have to eat a full meal but you are stuffed from all the veggies, cheeses, and other finger foods.  Even at work I bring in small little packages of things: fruit snack, little bags of pretzel or trail mix, etc...LOVE THEM!
I'm loving....Sam's Club. Due to my snacking addiction :) and of course for the bulk buying that ends up saving me a ton in the long run. Yes, yes I know it's a little bit of an investment initially, but trust me, when you don't have to run to the store because you ran out of your 15 roll pack for about $11 you could have gotten 36 for $20. I will say that not everything is worth buying in bulk, but things like cleaning supplies, deodorant, canned goods you get way more for quite a bit less. And this is Megan being frugal - BAM!

I'm loving...Victoria Secret. Mainly because the swimsuits are on sale. Between honyemoon shopping, bacholerette parties, and my own wedding to shop for VS should give me some kind of super spender recognition!
