50 Questions to get You Thinking

Like so many people around the state, and the east coast Kev and I lost power this weekend.
Thankfully we had somewhere to stay, or it would have been a rough weekend.
Luckily our power is back on, unluckily (is that a word...) we have no cable or internet.
This week could be a little rough here on the blog as I'm not sure if I'll be able to prepare much in advance. My apologizes.

That being said I thought today would be a good one for a questionnaire. I have some new followers, and I had actually done this post weeks ago.  I did update some things but these are 50 questions that will free your mind and really dig into your beliefs.

Let's get started shall we?

1. How old would you be if you didn’t know how old you are?
I'd say that I would seem right around my age...mid 20's. I do have my childish moments like everyone else, but at the same time I'm a firm believer in acting your own age. When you are young you should have fun, have a good childhood ya know. And of course, there are times I miss being younger. I suppose it boils down to acting your age with the important things. Nothing drives me than some 20 year old adult acting like they are in high school. Grow up.

2. Which is worse, failing or never trying?
Never trying! You will never truly know what you are capable of until you try.

3. If life is so short, why do we do so many things we don’t like and like so many things we don’t do?
Well I think that would depend on the person or situation. Most of the time fear is big factor, but things like family, money, and overall goal could keep you from doing something or forces you into sucking it up and dealing with it. Plus I think we all have to do things in life we don't want to and have to give up this we do want. It's life.

4. When it’s all said and done, will you have said more than you’ve done?
More than likely yes and I say this because I want to do a lot. I'm not sure there will be enough money or time to make it through everything I want to do. However, I'll try my best to get those things done!

5. What is the one thing you’d most like to change about the world?
Oh holy crap this is such a loaded question because I see so much that is wrong with the world. I think the biggest thing I'd like to see change is just how we treat each other overall. I think people's greed, need for power, and ignorance anymore is disgusting. Because of greed & ignorance people are dying, the environment is dying; the American dream is dying for heaven's sakes. Things are no longer being done for the greater good and we are digging ourselves into a world ending hole.

6. If happiness was the national currency, what kind of work would make you rich?
I'd have to say there would be a few things - working/starting a no kill animal shelter, or photography like NatGeo travel the world photography.

7. Are you doing what you believe in, or are you settling for what you are doing?
I like my job...I actually love my job, but it's not my dream job. I will say that I'm passionate about what I'm doing and want to follow it through to the end. This is kind of a trick question because I don't believe I'm settling but at the same time I'm not ultimately where I want to be, so maybe a little of each.

8. If the average human life span was 40 years, how would you live your life differently?
Hm. I'd have a lot more fun and be a lot more grateful.

9. To what degree have you actually controlled the course your life has taken?
Well I mean who ultimately knows the answer to that? What if we have no say in what happens to us and the decisions we think we are making for ourselves are actually being guided by something else?
No, that's not my answer.
I think a lot of my life is owed to my parents. They pointed me down the right path in life early on, guiding me when necessary. I'd say that as my life has progressed I was slowly given more control over my life and now it's 100% me.

10. Are you more worried about doing things right, or doing the right things?
Honestly, depends on what it is. 99% of the time it's doing the right things. If I think something is wrong then I'll try to correct the problem whatever it might be, but I don't always have the final say.
If it's something that I do not have the final say in then I'll just have to stick with doing things right.

11. You’re having lunch with three people you respect and admire. They all start criticizing a close friend of yours, not knowing she is your friend. The criticism is distasteful and unjustified. What do you do?
As you know I'm all about loyalty so I'd definitely have to tell them, in a nice way, that this person is my friend and that they've gotten the wrong impression about them.
If they feel like they have not gotten the wrong impression, that is fine but to please not voice negative opinions about my friends around me.
Of course, if they continued I'd go ape s*it on their asses lol
...no really I would.

12. If you could offer a newborn child only one piece of advice, what would it be?
Don't take life to seriously. Nothing is as important as it initially seems.
Relax and just have fun! Let yourself learn through experience.

13. Would you break the law to save a loved one?
Absolutely!

14. Have you ever seen insanity where you later saw creativity?
I'm not sure that I really have in person. Of course, I've seen things like artists who were thought to be insane but are some of the most creativity people of all time: Van Gogh, Steve Jobs, Tim Burton...

15. What’s something you know you do differently than most people?
Hmmm...this is tricky. I suppose a couple different things.
I don't really have a favorite anything...a few things yes, but overall I like to many things to choose just one to be a favorite.
My overall outlook can be very realistic and logical. Not that there aren't realists out there but I think for being 25 I think very realistically.

16. How come the things that make you happy don’t make everyone happy?
Really?! Well since most people are different we aren't going to like the same things and if we don't like the same things we can't expect the same things to make us happy.

17. What one thing have you not done that you really want to do?
What’s holding you back?
There are a lot of things that I'd like to do that I haven't done.  I tell you that most of the reason for holding back is money, and the lack thereof.  Let's pick something that is fairly easy...back pack through Europe. What's holding me back is money, the job situation (as in I still want to have one but would probably have to quit to do the backpacking I want to do).

18. Are you holding onto something you need to let go of?
I had a hard time answering this one for some reason. I've determined that I have some frustrations in life, but none of them have been unspoken. Whether the person(s) heard what I was really saying, I'm not sure, but I've said my piece and I have to let it go. I've realized that holding grudges doesn't really do anything and letting go makes everything easier.

19. If you had to move to a state or country besides the one you currently live in, where would you move and why?
I'd either live in Kauai Hawaii or Paris.
Kauai because it's just so beautiful! The weather is perfect, the people are nice, and the lifestyle is calm & relaxing! It's paradise. Who the heck wouldn't want to live there?
Paris because the European lifestyle is also calm,  but the city is packed with so much culture. There is so much to do and see, both the big things, and all the small little boutiques! You never get bored in Paris.

20. Do you push the elevator button more than once? Do you really believe it makes the elevator faster?
Sometimes.
No, I'm just being obnoxious at that point!

21. Would you rather be a worried genius or a joyful simpleton?
The pleasures of both would be nice wouldn't it?
I feel as though sometimes I truly think that ignorance is bliss but sometimes I'd just rather hear the truth instead of being kept in the dark about things that matter. Things that I could help change. So my answer would be a worried genius.
I'd rather have a say than pretend nothing is happening at all.

22. Why are you, you?
Because I am :)
I think I'm a culmination of my family, friends, and experiences. I mean that in the sense that my family & friends have helped mold me. Yes, I make my own decisions and I have my own beliefs, but honestly 99.9% of those thoughts and beliefs were instilled in me through my family & friends. Experience has been what has taught me my own life lessons. To know which of the values and beliefs that my friends and family brought to the table I want to hold on to, and which I want to change or even worry about at all.

23. Have you been the kind of friend you want as a friend?
I think so. I know I am not always the perfect friend, and have done not friend like things to people in the past, but I always try to be there for them, look out for them, and do my best for them. They don't always like what I have to say but I'm honest. I try to make sure they know my feelings towards them as well and how much I appreciate them. So overall I think I'm a good friend yes, I think I'd want to be my friend.

24. Which is worse, when a good friend moves away, or losing touch with a good friend who lives right near you?
You are talking to the queen of staying in touch...not. I'm really awful at staying on touch with people. I would say its worse to fall out of touch with someone that lives near you. There really isn't an excuse not to get together with that person. I suppose if interests have changes then it is what it is but if you are still friends there should be an effort made to see one another. It's something that I'm working on, but haven't done all that well with.

25. What are you most grateful for?
Honestly, my whole life. I've been very lucky and my life is really amazing.
Picking just one thing overall it would have to be Kev.
Cliché but he's the best husband and best friend this girl could ask for and I could never imagine how much life would be without him in it!

26. Would you rather lose all of your old memories, or never be able to make new ones?
Never be able to make new ones. At least then I don't remember that I can't remember something or someone. I couldn't imagine forgetting the people in my life and all of the important times in my life so far, things like my wedding day. I wouldn't be willing to give that up!

27. Is it possible to know the truth without challenging it first?
Yes, something's just are what they are.
The sky is blue, the grass is green...no arguing that point.

28. Has your greatest fear ever come true?
No, it has not. Thankfully!
I'm not sure how I'll know when it does either, but I'm sure I'll figure that out then if it happens.

29. Do you remember that time 5 years ago when you were extremely upset? Does it really matter now?
Actually I can remember something's that I was upset about 5 years ago. They don't really matter now but I suppose they helped in getting me to where I am now.

30. What is your happiest childhood memory? What makes it so special?
Going to the lake. I got to see my family: my grandparents, my cousins and all we did the whole time was play & have fun! There wasn't anything not to love about being there. Even to this day I love it!

31. At what time in your recent past have you felt most passionate and alive?
I feel this way whenever I'm with Kev.
Whether I'm happy, sad, angry, or any mood there is passion behind it when it comes to him!

32. If not now, then when?
Hopefully someday soon because life is to short too just wait around.

33. If you haven’t achieved it yet, what do you have to lose?
I think it depends on what the goal is because you could lose all that hard work and time you've put into something. Overall though nothing. It can never hurt to try!

34. Have you ever been with someone, said nothing, and walked away feeling like you just had the best conversation ever?
No, I don't think I have. There was talking involved with all my best conversations.
However, I am someone that can sit in silence with someone else. No biggy :)

35. Why do religions that support love cause so many wars?
It's not the religions themselves that are causing the war. It's the people that have beliefs under the religion and interpreting that religions doctrines different way than the people they are fighting with it. It's intolerance at its finest. Just sad it's under the name of religion instead of ignorance.

36. Is it possible to know, without a doubt, what is good and what is evil?
Yes, I think it's possible. There are just some things that happen that there is no question that it was a good deed or an evil one. There are probably times where it's hard to know one from the other, but I'd say for the most part you know what something good is and you know what something evil is.

37. If you just won a million dollars, would you quit your job?
Yep! But I wouldn't stop working, I'd just do something that I really really wanted to do and didn't have to worry about the salary part of it all or start up one of my own businesses that I'd want to take on.

38. Would you rather have less work to do, or more work you actually enjoy doing?
More work that I actually enjoy doing. I like staying busy, especially if I'm working. If I have a lot of down time then all I do is think about everything outside of the work place that needs done. That's just distracting. It's better to load me up then to just let me sit around. However, do not bog me down to the point I'm working at home in the evenings a lot. I like to keep work and home separate if possible.

39. Do you feel like you’ve lived this day a hundred times before?
There are some days that feel like they are exactly the same as the day before. It's just the daily grind that most people live by. However, I would never say I have a boring life and that things never change because I don't and things do change.

40. When was the last time you marched into the dark with only the soft glow of an idea you strongly believed in?
Honestly, the last thing that I would say this would apply to would be this blog! I really had no idea what I was doing when I started but I knew it'd be something fun and a challenge for me! However, I've never really taken the huge leap of faith. Where you put everything out there and surrender yourself to the unknown. I'm not sure I'm the type of person that can do that. I'd love to be like those people, ya know those people that just up and make the decision to move out of the state or people who just decide to start a business and do it! No, I need a plan. I need to know the outcomes. It's the type A personality I can't help it! However, I will say, I'm not afraid to step out of my comfort zone. Just have to have a plan before I do that lol.

41. If you knew that everyone you know was going to die tomorrow, who would you visit today?
Definitely my family, and of course my closest friends! I know I'd try to patch up any hard feelings with any of those people as well!

42. Would you be willing to reduce your life expectancy by 10 years to become extremely attractive or famous?
Honestly, maybe. First, it would only be for the famous piece...not the attractive piece. Even though it kind of goes hand in hand, and what I was famous for.
Second, it would kind of depend if I knew exactly when I was going to die. I honestly do not want to live to the point where I'm a burden to my family and have lost my marbles!
Yes, this the same girl that's terrified of dying and in an ideal world I'd live forever as a ripe age of like 24 buuut since I'm not part of the Cullen family that's not possible.

43. What is the difference between being alive and truly living?
I suppose that is an easy one since we've all heard it about a million times. Everyone is alive but not everyone really takes full advantage of that fact and goes out and explores and creates themselves. Sometimes people just settle. However, I think I'd like to say that someone's mediocre could be someone's awesome. Who are we to determine if someone has "lived" or not.

44. When is it time to stop calculating risk and rewards, and just go ahead and do what you know is right?
I'm not sure there is a right or wrong time. I think it's just something that will have to click, and I think it's very dependent on what you are calculating the risk & reward for. There are some things that to me, personally, that I would never just throw to the wind & see what happens. On the other hand though, there are some things that I know are just going to be more fun if I go with the flow!

45. If we learn from our mistakes, why are we always so afraid to make a mistake?
I think that mistakes are seen as failure and it's human nature to strive for perfection.  I think mistakes are okay though. It's how people learn!

46. What would you do differently if you knew nobody would judge you?
Ha. Um. Probably be even more outspoken and honestly probably wouldn't shower as much. Lol. Not to the point that I'm absolutely disgusting. I just hate having to get ready so there are times I wish I could go without showering.

47. When was the last time you noticed the sound of your own breathing?
I would have to say the other day during yoga the other day when working on controlling our breathing.
Yet another good thing about it!

48. What do you love? Have any of your recent actions openly expressed this love?
Well I love a lot of things! Kevin, my family, Gunner, friends, my different hobbies!  I'm not always the best at expressing that love, but I try none the less!

49. In 5 years from now, will you remember what you did yesterday? What about the day before that? Or the day before that?
Honestly, I probably will since there was huge outage in Columbus the last couple of days. I do highly doubt that I'll remember the days after yesterday and today. As long as significant happens that is!

50. Decisions are being made right now. The question is: Are you making them for yourself, or are you letting others make them for you?
I would have to say that I'm making them myself but I have other people in my life that are influencing those decisions. Every decision I make is ultimately going to affect Kevin and possibly other people in my life, depending on what that is. Even though he may never verbally influence my decision the hubins is in my head every time I make a choice. I do know that I would be "allowed" to do whatever I want if I wanted to but I do not want to make a bad decision that will affect Kev and the rest of my loved ones in a negative way.

Happy Monday!

What a fun post! I might have to do something like this when I can't think of myself else to say. I hope you are fully restored soon. My fiance works for the electric company here in Pittsburgh so he's working overtime to try to get people out this way restored.
