Happy Monday everyone. I found this link-up over at I Love You More than Carrots and thought it was a good Valentine's Day Eve post! I've been reading all the other bloggers who have linked up posts. I've decided I love posts like these. I love that everyone's story is different, but it's brought everyone the same amazing feeling of love!
1. How long have you and your significant other been together?
We have been together 5 1/2 years!
2. How did you meet? {What's your "love" story?}
We have been together 5 1/2 years!
Our first picture together ever! |
Well the very first time I ever met Kevin was "New Student Weekend" at Otterbein (where we went to college). He was with his roommate and best friend from high school, Jeff; babysitting another kid from the dorm. I can honestly tell you what he was wearing but a quick hi & goodbye was the end of the conversation. Then about a week later a girl in my dorm, Mandy, said she knew a couple guys from orientation and we should all hang out with them (all meaning the 6 of us girls that were always together). The guys & girls started hanging out & pretty soon we were all pretty inserparable. Through the beginning and even well into the middle of freshman year Kevin and I were great friends! Mind you, he had a girlfriend for a good bit of the year and I had a boyfriend. However, sometime in the early spring an attraction started between us, we started hanging out more and more (yes I still had a boyfriend, he did not have his girlfriend but nothing had happened). Then one day it just clicked for me that I knew I liked Kevin a lot more than just a friend, and even knew that he was "the one" (yeah, yeah, yeah corny I know). I quickly made a phone call to my then at the time boyfriend and broke it off. The rest for Kev and I is history! We've had a great 5 1/2 years together. Growing and learning together as a couple. Having good times and bad times. Unforgettable moments together with friends & family! I'm lucky to have someone like Kevin and I can't wait to grow old together with him!
3. If married, how long have you been married?
We have been married for 4 glorious months :) 10-01-11 <3
4. If you are married, where did you get married at? Big or small wedding?
We got married here in Columbus. I'd say it was towards the big end of the spectrum. 275 of our loved ones were there :) It was the best day of my life!

5. Do you have any nick-names that you call one another?
We have all kinds of nicknames for each other. Mine to him are usually: Kev, Kevin Mikey (his middle name is Michael), and B. His to me is usually just B, or Meg lol.

6. Name 3 things you love most about your honey.
Only 3 things :(
1) He will do anything for one of his loved ones. No questions asked. He's one of the more genuinely caring people I've ever met.
2) He makes me laugh & let's loose.
What better way to share a life than with laughter!!
3) He's ambitious.
Nothing sexier than a man with goals and the ambition to back them up!College Graduation |
It was Friday February 12th, 2010. I woke up at 6:30AM like I always do for work, and sleepily walk into the bathroom. I'm standing there brushing my teeth and out of the corner of my eye I catch my jewelry holder. My jewelry wasn't in it! I noticed because my jewelry was yellow gold and the dish is crystal so the lack of color made me notice the missing rings. At first I was like, "what in the heck! I know I put my rings up here last night! Where did they go?" Then I noticed something on the ring holder part (you know the ring holder the sticks up from the little dish part). I bend down real close and it was a diamond ring! I stood up real quick and just thought "OMG!" I went flying out of the bathroom, toothbrush still in hand, and yell "What is that!" Kev walks into the bathroom, gets the ring, gets on one knee, and proposes. Of course, I'm crying and honestly can't believe what is happening. I try to say yes but end just kind of making a noise and nodding my head. Kev gets up to give me a hug and all I can say is "I need to spit out my toothpaste", since I forgot to spit out the contents before flying out the door. I'm still like crying and smiling all over the place! To add to the moment, Kev had called me off of work that day and had gotten us tickets to the opera to see Romeo & Juliet! It was the perfect proposal!
The day we got engaged, ready for the opera! |
I'd have to say strawberries, champagne, and rose petals :) He's definitely more of the "sexy" type than the "cute" type.
9. Are you a sunset dinner on the beach kind of girl, or pop a movie in and relax on the couch?
Sophomore year of college. Feels like so long ago! |
Well if we had a beach in Ohio then I'd be more of the beach at sunset kind of girl, but since we don't have a beach...and no I do not count "the beaches of the Great Lakes" beaches, I'm more of the pop in a movie and relax on the couch kind of girl! Definitely more of a homebody in general.
10. Tell us one thing you'd like to do with your significant one day. If you could do anything? Go anywhere?
On our Honeymoon! |
Well there are two things that stick out in my head right away.
1) Have kids with him! I can't wait (I can, but I'm still excited for that day) until we start to have kids. Kevin will be an awesome dad!
2) Travel through Europe. Take off like a month or so of work and just go. Hit up all the big cities we want to see and not worry about anything other than enjoying the sites & each other :)
Loving on the dog! Proof he'll be a good dad! |
11. Tell us what you plan on doing on this Valentine's Day.
On Saturday we had a little double date with our friend Jason & Danielle. We got a Groupon together so we thought celebrating the holiday was a good way to use it! Then on actual Valentine's Day I'm not sure. We will do something though :) Could be going out to dinner, probably staying in and cooking though, to avoid the madness, and watching a movie!
12. Are you asking for anything this Valentine's day?
I haven't asked for anything specific really. I'm not good at doing that really, but I did mention having him do something romantic :) Let's see what happens with that...
Junior year of college & one of the only times my hairs been this curly! |
Well first off a relationship is work! You have to work at it. I think people get the wrong idea about relationships and if someone is "the one" it just works out. That's not how it works people!
I think something that keeps the fire alive is being willing to try new things together! Whether you think you'll like it or not if you significant other wants to do it maybe you should just give it a try too. You could end up finding yet another thing to do together!

Just found your blog and love your story!! Your pictures together are adorable and I agree nothing better than a man that is ambitious :) I love that about mine too!!
I always love your proposal story. Every time I hear it, I think it's just one of the cutest things I've ever heard :) Also, Kev looks like a BABY in the picture with your curly hair. Happy Valentine's Day!
Very sweet, Megs!
