Hodge Podge!

I decided to try a new link up today...ok let's be real the Pinterest one will be coming too :)

1. February 22nd is National Be Humble Day...what makes you proud? What keeps you humble?
I have a lot of things...rather people in my life that make me proud. What keeps me humble is the unknown. Everyone brings something new to the table and you never know the kind of experiences that people have had. I know that I am luckier than many people and I know that I haven't gone through some of the awful things that my friends have had to deal with.

2. Where is the catch-all (aka dumping ground) in your house?
Hmmm I'd have to say the junk drawer in the kitchen...doesn't everyone have those.
Second would be our bedroom floor. Whenever we have company over we usually just throw all our crap into our room. In turn it stays there for awhile.

3. Do you make it a point to visit State/National Parks when you travel or even in your own hometown? What's your favorite?
I have been to a few state parks when I've gone somewhere but I do not make it a point to go to one no. My favorite was Yosemite. I want to go back and spend some time there so I can take some pictures like Ansel Adams!

4. How would you define honor?

 5. Angel's food or Devil's food-which cake do you prefer?
Honestly, neither. But if I had to choose I'd choose the Angel Food Cake with Strawberries - like Strawberry shortcake!

6. What's the most recent road trip you've taken? Where did you go and how many hours did you spend in the car? Do you like to zoom to your destination without stopping or leisurely wind your way there with stops along the way? What is your car snack of choice?
I don't know that I can say I've ever really been on a "road trip". Most of the car rides that are over an hour are spend zooming to the destination. However, depending on the trip I wouldn't mind stopping to check out some of the sights. My car snack of choice is probably some salt & vinegar chips, a bag of sour patch kids, and a pop :)

7. Recent headlines told how a preschool child in NC had their packed lunch from home taken away and a school lunch substituted by a school inspector who deemed the homemade lunch unhealthy. Reportedly the parent was then billed for the school lunch (chicken nugget meal) although an update to the story says the parent was not billed. The inspector was conducting a routine inspection of the classroom-he/she was not there solely to peek in the lunchboxes. The packed lunch contained a turkey and cheese sandwich, an apple juice box, a bag of chips, and a banana. You can read the story here. Your thoughts?
Jeez this seems kind of a load question for this.
First, I do think it's a good thing that the government is trying to help by regulating some of these eating laws. Granted I don't think a person should be told what they can and cannot eat, but there seem to be parents out there that need the help. No child should suffer because of their parents short comings.
However, I'm still trying to figure out why this was not considered a good lunch. I think that's a good lunch, it's something I would have eaten what I was younger. Even with the chips overall it was a good meal! I don't think that teachers should be able to just "take away a lunch" and then charge the parent unless the parents had been informed that such action could happen. I'm not sure what to chalk this up to but I'm sure it's nothing to get your panties in a twist about.

8. Insert your own random thought here.

Have you guys seen this SNL skit from last week! It's HILARIOUS! Probably one of my favorites in a very long time! Just gotta love Beyonce & Jay-Z :)

Happy Wednesday

I like your post about being humble. The sign says it all! The picture of Honor brought tears to my eyes. I read a book about Iwo Jima. The horrors those men had to face is horrendous. They define the word 'honor' perfectly.
